Andrew Molera State Park

Andrew Molera State Park's campground Trail Camp will close for the winter season beginning November 1st, 2026. Trail Camp is located in a flood zone of the Big Sur River; therefore, the campground closes annually in the winter for public safety and natural resource protection. Trail Camp is projected to reopen to campers on May 1st, 2027. Reservations are strongly encouraged for all campsites. Reservations can be made at ReserveCalifornia.com within 6-months of your arrival date.

The seasonal footbridge installed annually across the Big Sur River along the Creamery Meadow Trail WILL BE REMOVED ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29th, 2026. This pedestrian bridge is permitted by the Department of Fish & Wildlife to be installed from June 15th until October 31st each year. CA State Parks makes every effort to install and remove the pedestrian bridge as close to these dates as possible; however, the specific date of installation and removal varies each year depending on CA State Park Natural Resource and Maintenance staff availability, Big Sur River flows, and weather projections.

About Andrew Molera State Park

Encompassing almost 5,000 acres of largely undeveloped diverse coast range terrain with 15 miles of trails and the Big Sur Rivermouth. Cultural and natural attractions include the Cooper Cabin, which is the oldest building in Big Sur, along with the Molera Ranch House Museum and the California Condor Discovery Center.

Andrew Molera State Park

TRESPASS ALERT

During your visit to Andrew Molera State Park, you may encounter fenced and posted boundaries for the El Sur Ranch. We ask your cooperation in refraining from climbing or cutting these fences. The El Sur Ranch is a working cattle grazing operation. These grazing areas are not safe for hiking. These private lands should not be utilized for beach access. Stay on park trails and obey all signs.

In the spectacular Big Sur area, this park is still relatively undeveloped and offers visitors great hiking and beachcombing as well as panoramic views of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, a federal marine protected area. Miles of trails wind through meadows, bluffs, beaches and hilltops.

The weather can be changeable. Layered clothing is advised. In winter, overnight temperatures can range in the 30s-50s (Fahrenheit). Winter daytime temperatures can be low 50s-mid 70s. In summer, overnight temperatures can range in the 50s-70s, with daytime temperatures typically in the 70s-80s. Summer mornings bring fog, which usually burns off by midday.
