About OCI
The Office of Community Involvement (OCI) works directly with communities to provide relevant programming that increases access to parks and facilitates meaningful experiences in nature for all Californians. We intentionally work with non-traditional park users and under-served communities who may not have the awareness, opportunity, or ability to experience the beautiful diversity of California State Parks. Our team creates opportunities to overcome barriers and empowers individuals to access the benefits of outdoor recreation.
Outdoor Youth Connection

Outdoor Youth Connection (OYC) training is a great opportunity for youth to experience the connection between the outdoors and one's community. At the training, youth will have the opportunity to rekindle, forge, and strengthen old and new relationships through camping skills, team-building activities, personal reflection, and journaling.

Outdoor Recreation Leadership

Focusing on community leaders, program coordinators, and professionals, Outdoor Recreation Leadership (ORL) training aims to provide knowledge and tools to those who want to incorporate more outdoor education and recreation into their programming. ORL training will equip professionals with tools and resources to increase their program's diversity and community development strategies. On top of that, graduates will be able to access the FamCamp® program for two years.
