California Art Takes Center Stage in Local Parks: Inaugural Grantees Announced

SACRAMENTO – California State Parks, the California Arts Council, and Parks California, today announced the inaugural recipients of the Arts in California Parks Local Parks Grant Program. A total of $2.8 million will fund 31 local nonprofits, community organizations and artists, allowing them to create unforgettable experiences in local parks across the state that will enrich and inspire residents and visitors alike.

California State Parks and Save The Redwoods League Unveil New Plan to Safeguard Iconic Redwood Parks in Santa Cruz County

SANTA CRUZ — California State Parks and Save the Redwoods League today released a new Forest Management Strategy (FMS) aimed at restoring and protecting three state parks in Santa Cruz County following the 2020 CZU Lightning Complex Fire. The devastating wildfire burned through more than 24,000 acres in Big Basin Redwoods, Año Nuevo and Butano state parks. The FMS outlines critical actions needed to help the forests recover and to improve wildfire and climate resilience in the parks and neighboring communities.

Division of Boating and Waterways Offers Grants to Help Keep California’s Waterways Clean

SACRAMENTO – California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting grant applications from government agencies to purchase and deploy floating restrooms on lakes and reservoirs with limited landside access. A total of $1.05 million in federal and state funding is available for approximately four ADA-compliant floating restrooms. Eligible applicants are encouraged to submit a grant application to DBW by 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18.

California State Parks Plan Prescribed Burns at Mount Diablo State Park

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY —California State Parks plans to conduct prescribed burns at Mount Diablo State Park (SP) with assistance from local fire agencies. The prescribed burns will take place on one or more days between Oct. 28 and Dec. 13. All burning is dependent on weather and air quality conditions. If weather or vegetation conditions are not conducive for burning and smoke dispersal, the planned burns will be rescheduled.

Division of Boating and Waterways Offers Grants to Improve Recreational Boating Access

SACRAMENTO — California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is providing public agencies with two opportunities to apply for Boat Launching Facility grant funding that can be used to design, engineer, permit and construct improvements to existing public recreational boat launch facilities or create new facilities for recreational boating access.

Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park Invites Public to Connect with the Past at Coloma Gold Rush Live

COLOMA — California State Parks invites the public to its annual Coloma Gold Rush Live at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park (SHP). Gold Rush Live is a popular three-day event the weekend of Oct. 11-13, where the public can experience California’s rich Gold Rush history. Park staff and volunteers transform the park into an 1850s tent town where attendees can experience what life may have been like in Coloma in 1850.
