Office of Historic Preservation Announces New California Maritime Heritage Grants Program

SACRAMENTO —The California Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) is excited to announce nearly $330,000 is available through a new grant program for the preservation and interpretation of California’s irreplaceable maritime heritage. OHP is now accepting applications for the grants, which are funded by the National Park Service (NPS) through the National Maritime Heritage Grants Program for the stewardship and preservation of historical and archaeological resources associated with the maritime history of California.

California State Parks Invites Public to Join the 40th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day

SACRAMENTO – California State Parks today announced that more than 40 state parks, as well as the department’s Division of Boating and Waterways, will participate in the 40th annual California Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept. 21. Every year on Coastal Cleanup Day, tens of thousands of people remove trash at sites throughout California as part of the state’s largest annual volunteer event.

SAN ONOFRE – California State Parks, California’s Department of General Services, the U.S. Department of the Navy and the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton today announced a new 25-year lease agreement for San Onofre State Beach and San Mateo Campground. The popular beach in San Diego County is renowned for its world-class surf breaks and diverse outdoor recreation opportunities, attracting nearly 2.5 million visitors each year. Today’s agreement, which marks the culmination of years of complex negotiations between California and its federal partners, ensures visitors will continue to enjoy uninterrupted access to the beach while preserving its natural resources and recreational opportunities for current and future generations.

California State Parks and Parks California Announce Joint Effort to Bolster Park Workforce Throughout California

SACRAMENTO — California State Parks and Parks California are excited to announce the awardees for the 2024-2026 Career Pathways Grants. Fourteen local organizations will receive a total of over $1.1 million to help train people for careers in parks and public lands. The Career Pathways Program helps California State Parks work with local organizations to prepare people and overcome barriers to access for careers in parks.
