Division of Boating and Waterways Offers $1.6 Million in Grants to Enhance Recreational Boating Safety Education

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting grant applications from organizations that teach on-the-water boating safety education to the public.  A total of $1.6 million in grants is available to local public agencies, nonprofit organizations and colleges/universities operating within California for Aquatic Center Education Program grants. The deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, at noon.

Division of Boating and Waterways Provides Tips for Safe Boating During Low Water Conditions and Ahead of Labor Day Weekend

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- With this year’s drought conditions impacting waterways throughout the state and the busy Labor Day weekend ahead, the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways wants to remind recreational boaters that drought conditions may reduce water levels, but not the dangers.

Border Field State Parks Celebrates 50th Anniversary

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. – California State Parks is commemorating the 50th anniversary of Border Field State Park with events on Monument Mesa and at the park entrance from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021. In partnership with park partners, the department will host a series of interpretive booths throughout the park including the launch of a new podcast series and an app with a self-guided tour about the stories from the first people of this area, the Kumeyaay.

California State Parks Reminds Visitors to Preserve Historic Sites at Folsom Lake State Recreation Area

FOLSOM, Calif. – California State Parks is urging visitors to Folsom Lake State Recreation Area (SRA) to help protect historic resources by not handling, removing, or destroying artifacts or ruins along the lakebed. Artifacts once belonging to immigrants seeking fortune along the American River are now exposed due to historic low-water levels. These sites and artifacts are protected by both federal and state laws that prohibit disturbing the sites in any way, including removing or relocating artifacts.
