Division of Boating and Waterways Offers $1.4 Million in Grants to Enhance Recreational Boating Safety Education

SACRAMENTO — California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting grant applications from organizations that teach on-the-water boating safety education to the public. Up to $1.4 million in grants is available to local public agencies, nonprofit organizations and colleges/universities operating within California for the Aquatic Center Grant program. The deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 30, at noon.

California State Parks Invites Californians to Pitch In for Coastal Cleanup Day on Sept. 19

SACRAMENTO – Grab your friends, family and a pair of reusable gloves and make a difference during the 42nd annualCalifornia Coastal Cleanup Day from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 19. This year, more than 60 California state parks along with the Division of Boating and Waterways will participate in the state’s largest annual volunteer event in coordination with the California Coastal Commission.

Division of Boating and Waterways Offers Grants to Improve Inland Recreational Boating Access

SACRAMENTO — California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is calling on public agencies with facilities serving both motorized and non-motorized recreational vessels to apply for inland Boat Launching Facility grants. Approximately $11.8 million in grants are available. Funding can be used to design, engineer, permit and construct new public recreational boat launching facilities or for improvements to existing facilities. Applications are due no later than noon, May 22, 2026.

Division of Boating and Waterways Offers Up to $2.5 Million in Grants to Enhance Public Safety and Protect California’s Waterways

SACRAMENTO — California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting grant applications to help local public entities enhance safety on California’s waterways and protect them from abandoned and unwanted vessels. Up to $2.5 million is available in grant funding. The applications for these competitive grant programs, the Boating Safety and Enforcement Equipment (BSEE) and Surrendered and Abandoned Vessel Exchange (SAVE) programs, are open now through Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 3 p.m. PDT.

Division of Boating and Waterways to Begin Annual Control Efforts for Aquatic Invasive Plants in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta

SACRAMENTO – California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) announced today its plans for this year’s control efforts for invasive aquatic plants in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and its southern tributaries (Delta). Starting March 19, DBW will start herbicide treatments on water hyacinth, South American spongeplant, Uruguay water primrose, Alligator weed, Brazilian waterweed, curlyleaf pondweed, Eurasian watermilfoil, coontail, fanwort and ribbon weed in the Delta. Treatment start dates may change depending on weather conditions and plant growth or movement.

Division of Boating and Waterways Now Accepting Grant Letters of Intent to Address Coastal Erosion

SACRAMENTO – California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is now accepting letters of intent from public agencies interested in grant funding for projects that address the impacts of coastal erosion on California’s ocean and bay shorelines.
