SACRAMENTO — As Californians head outdoors to enjoy the final summer holiday weekend, California State Parks’ Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is reminding recreational boaters and water enthusiasts to prioritize safety while on the water. With waterways busier during Labor Day weekend, taking simple precautions can help save lives and prevent accidents.
CHICO - California State Parks is beginning the cleanup phase at Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park. Starting this week, a contractor will clear debris around the historic mansion that was severely damaged in an arson fire on Dec. 11, 2024. Work will include removing all fire-damaged debris around the perimeter of the main historic brick structure.

This annual event emphasizes the importance of responsible boating practices and water safety awareness as Californians prepare for the summer boating season. The new rangers will join the 33 rangers and eight lifeguards who graduated in July 2020 from State Parks’ Basic Visitor Services Training (BVST) Academy.
