FOLSOM – California State Parks will be closing a segment of the American River Bike Trail (ARBP) to complete maintenance at the base of the Orangevale Bluffs near Black Miners Bar.
From Monday, Oct. 13, to Thursday, Oct. 16, the ARBP will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. from the south end of the Orangevale Bluffs at Call Box 28 to its intersection with the Black Miners Bar Entrance Road as depicted on the attached map. The trail will be reopened at 5 p.m. on Oct. 16 or earlier if the project is completed. This trail closure is necessary to remove fallen dirt and debris from the bluffs. During the closure, there will be no designated detour. Users of the ARPB may choose to use the Pioneer Express Trail or the South Lake Natoma Bike Path during construction hours.
“We realize this project will impact users of the ARBP,” said Mike Howard, Folsom Lake Sector Superintendent. “As the bluffs continually erode, we need to remove the dirt and debris so that it does not spill onto the bike trail during winter storms. We are asking for the users of the bike path to stay out of the area during construction.”
During the closure, personnel will be present to prevent trail users from entering the construction zone. State Parks thanks the public for its patience and understanding during this temporary closure.
