Individuals and Small Groups

Small groups of 15 or fewer are welcome to visit Sutter’s Fort SHP without a reservation. Groups with less than 15 students pay general admission.

General Admission tours are self-guided. State Parks Staff and Volunteers are available to answer questions and discuss the history of the Fort. There are no formal guided tours for General Admission visitors scheduled at this time.

 

School Groups

School groups are welcome to visit Sutter’s Fort SHP for a free self-guided tour with an advance reservation. Reservations are available every 15 minutes, from 10:00 am to 2:45 pm, Monday through Friday. To place a reservation, please visit ReserveCalifornia or call (800) 444-7275. School groups are limited to a maximum of 50 people per group including students, teachers and chaperones. Groups with more than 50 people must divide their group into multiple reservation times. Students are expected to be under direct adult supervision throughout their visit, with a minimum of 1 adult required for every 10 students. School group tours will receive a short orientation from state park staff. After the orientation school groups are free to explore the fort on their own. Schools interested in more extensive educational experiences are encouraged to reserve one of our educational programs.

 

Commercial Groups

Commercial tour groups are welcome to visit Sutter’s Fort for a self-guided tour with an advance reservation. Commercial groups pay regular admission. To make a reservation visit ReserveCalifornia or call (866) 240-4655. For additional questions call: 916-445-4422.
