Share the Beach
Join the outreach program taking place at MacKerricher State Park and Manchester State Park. Volunteers will share information about the coastal environment with visitors and encourage stewardship and protection of native plant and wildlife communities. Training begins in May.
Pollinator Surveys
Walk designated survey routes at Manchester State Park to document insect pollinators. No experience necessary, training provided in May. Surveys run May-August.
Caspar Cares Trail Stewards
After receiving training, meet monthly to weed whack approved trails that have been annually mowed to maintain access at Caspar Headlands State Beach.
Marine Protected Area (MPA) Watch
Help collect data on human use activities within and adjacent to our local Marine Protected Areas at MacKerricher State Park, Point Cabrillo State Historic Park, Russian Gulch State Park, Big River Beach at Mendocino Headlands State Park, and Van Damme State Park.
Black Oystercatcher Monitoring Project
Participate in the fifteenth year of ongoing weekly monitoring of seabird nesting sites throughout the summer. Begins in April.
Hendy Woods Docent
Help staff the visitor center or lead interpretive walks on Saturdays in the summertime.

Coastal Prairie Dune Restoration at Manchester State Park
Assist in seed collection for plant propagation.

Volunteer at the Greenwood Museum and Visitor Center in Elk, California, the Ford House Visitor Center and Museum in Mendocino, California, Captain Fletcher’s Inn at Navarro Beach, the MacKerricher Visitor Center north of Fort Bragg, California, or the Van Damme Visitor Center in Little River, California.
