Groups planning to visit Picacho State Recreation Area can make reservations at the following campgrounds:
- Drive-in Group Campground near the Main Campground
- Kayak/Canoe/Boat-in Group Campground near the Lower Dock
- Taylor Lake Campground
- Paddlewheeler Boat-in Campground
- Carrizo Boat-in Campground
- 4S Beach Campground
- The Outpost Campground
Family campsites at the Main Campground cannot be reserved; they are only available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Reservations can be made until 2 weeks prior to requested occupancy. No last-minute reservations will be granted. Reservation requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The overflow area at 4S Beach Campground can only be reserved with a Special Event Permit. Special Event Permit applications must be received at least 30 days before the event for the permit to be processed.
Only cash, checks, or money orders are accepted for payment of reservation fees. Fees must be mailed to or dropped off at the Ocotillo Wells District Headquarters located at:

The Special Events Coordinator can process campsite reservation requests and provide more information for planning for a large group, wedding, filming, or other gathering.
