Grunion Run Junior Rangers Litter Getters Bark Rangers

Junior Rangers

Junior Rangers will take place most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3-4pm in August at the picnic tables in the middle of the campground at Bolsa Chica. Junior Rangers are geared toward kids ages 7-12 to explore their local state park. These events are free to attend.

WHEN:

Microplastics (Mondays) - August 4th, 11th, 18th, & 25th
Turtles - Wednesday, August 6th
Local Plants of Bolsa Chica - Wednesday, August 13th
Seashells - Wednesday August 20th
Survivor! - Wednesday, August 27th
Citizen Science and Microscopes! (Fridays) - Agusut 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th.

Programs run from 3-4PM

WHERE:
Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground Picnic Tables. Visitors may park north or south of the campground and walk in.

Litter Getters

Litter Getters is an all-ages beach cleanup perfect for kids and adults to get outside at their local state park and make a difference.

On this hour-long volunteer event participants will go through a short safety orientation grab supplies and head out on the sand to look for trash treasures with State Park staff! At the end of the program each volunteer will receive a prize and the satisfaction that comes with doing a good deed.

You do not need to RSVP to attend - just show up!

WHERE: Meet at Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground Picnic Tables. We recommend participants park by Beach City Provisions - our oceanfront concession - and walk over from there.

WHEN: Every Tuesday from June through August, 3:00pm - 4:00pm

For the most comfortable experience, we recommend bringing:

Layers
A Hat
Shoes that you don't mind getting dirty
Hair tie (if you have long hair - it can get windy)
Reusable water bottle
Sunscreen

Bark Rangers

Bark Rangers is an all-ages program geared toward dog owners. Participant will take the Bark Ranger pledge and learn about park friendly dog practices. Every week’s program has a different activity such as crafting dog tags, baking homemade dog treats, meeting with a State Park K9 Handler, or joining a pack walk along the multi-use trail. These events are free to attend.

*We ask that dogs are non-reactive and well behaved. Please make sure your dog is on a leash and you bring dog bags to pick up after your pet.
