Lake Perris upland hunting follows the same season that CA Department of Fish and Wildlife publishes. Upland game birds at Lake Perris include Dove, Pheasants, and Quail. During waterfowl season, the lake’s waterfowl include Goose, Duck, Coots, and Moorhen.
Upland Hunting
Upland Hunting Guidelines:
- Hunting is only allowed in the designated upland hunt zone.
- The designated Lake Perris hunting area is Lake Perris Designated Upland Hunting Map
- Only shotguns may be used in these designated areas; shooting in other areas of the park is prohibited.
- All hunters must park in hunter's lot and sign in (Clipboard)
- Shooting hours are from 6:00 a.m. until sunset.
- Only three rounds permitted in a shotgun at one time. (Must have plug)
- Valid California State Hunting License is required at all times.
- An Upland game stamp is required for dove, pheasant and quail.
- Lake Perris upland hunting follows the same season that CA Department of Fish and Wildlife publlishes.

Hunting Application 2025-2026 Season
Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will accept applications via mail or in person beginning August 10, with a deadline of September 3, 2025. Each application will be entered in the lottery for each of the select Sundays (Every other Sunday of the hunt season). There is no need to specify which dates as all dates will be considered for each application. Complete application must also include a check or money order payable to the “Department of Parks and Recreation” in the amount of $7.50. Only one application per person is accepted. All lottery application fees are non-refundable.
DPR will assign each application a number and apply a computer-based randomizer to award the applicants. All applications will be entered for each Sunday lottery. It is possible that an applicant can be awarded multiple hunt dates. DPR will award the entire season by September XX, 2025. The results will be posted on the Lake Perris Website and emailed to applicants. There are 7-8 boat in hunting locations available every other Sunday of the hunting season. (5) of which will be on reservations and the remaining and any reservation no-shows will be via in person sweatline. If an applicant is awarded a hunt date, they have until September 10th to pay for their awarded date in full by mail or in person. You may choose not to hunt that day, but you will not be awarded an alternate date. Awarded applicants must list the number of hunters in their party (max occupancy determined by vessel length). Each hunter must have a valid license and all associated tags. If payment is not received in full by October 5th, 2025 the reservation will be nullified. All payments are non-refundable. There are no cancellations and no-shows will forfeit all payments. Awarded applicants must be one of the occupants of the hunting vessel. Awarded applicants may not trade, give, or sell their reservation to another party.
Walk-ups / Sweatline
Reservations have already been awarded. There are (2) extra spaces each hunt day that will be awarded with an in person lottery at 4:00 AM. In addition to these (2) spaces, any reservation no shows will also be available in the lottery. Please scroll down the page below the photo for important information.
Location IMPORTANT:
You must enter the park off the Moreno Beach Dr located in Moreno Valley off Iris / Moreno Beach Drive. The Lake Perris Dr entrance off Ramona Expressway will not be open for waterfowl access.
Blind Locations
Reservation Blinds have already occured for the entire season via lottery. The Sunday sweatline has two spots plus any no-shows. Water depth determines the buoy locations. The general area is the east end of the lake. There will be (8) blinds for 2023-24.

Waterfowl Program Details & Guidelines
Hunting Times:
Hunting (first shot) start of the day times will vary on a weekly basis. Upon check-in, hunters will be notified of the shoot time by Lake Perris SRA staff. Shooting end time will be 12:00 PM. All vessels must de-launch and be back at the check-in station by 1:00 PM
Hunters / Spectators per vessel:
For safety, vessels may only have a designated number of occupants. Adults and youths are each considered as occupants.
• Vessels 11’-13’ in length = No more than 2 occupants
• Vessels 14’-16’ in length = No more than 3 occupants
• Vessels larger than 16’ in length = No more than 4 occupants
Lake Perris Waterfowl Hunting Fees:
Season-long application lottery reservation fee is $7.50. If a reservation is awarded, applicable waterfowl hunting fees will apply:
• 1 hunter = $50
• 2 hunters = $70
• 3 hunters = $90
• 4 hunters = $110
• Hunting dog = No associated fee
Junior hunters less than 16 years old and non-hunter spectators are free. Above fees include park entrance and launch fee. State Park annual passes do not discount any of the waterfowl access fees. All payments are non-refundable. One hunting dog per vessel is allowed.
