Lake Perris State Recreation Area offers a diverse and exciting hunting experience for outdoor enthusiasts. The Upland Huntings Area provides a perfect blend of natural beauty and isolation. Hunting at Lake Perris is a unique opportunity to explore the rich ecosystems, from rolling hills to lush wetlands, that support a variety of game species. Whether you're a seasoned hunter or a beginner, Lake Perris SRA promises an engaging adventure, complete with well-maintained facilities and a supportive community of fellow hunters.

Lake Perris upland hunting follows the same season that CA Department of Fish and Wildlife publishes. Upland game birds at Lake Perris include Dove, Pheasants, and Quail. During waterfowl season, the lake’s waterfowl include Goose, Duck, Coots, and Moorhen.

Upland Hunting

Upland Hunting Guidelines:

  • Hunting is only allowed in the designated upland hunt zone.
  • The designated Lake Perris hunting area is Lake Perris Designated Upland Hunting Map
  • Only shotguns may be used in these designated areas; shooting in other areas of the park is prohibited. 
  • All hunters must park in hunter's lot and sign in (Clipboard)
  • Shooting hours are from 6:00 a.m. until sunset.
  • Only three rounds permitted in a shotgun at one time. (Must have plug)
  • Valid California State Hunting License is required at all times. 
  • An Upland game stamp is required for dove, pheasant and quail.
  • Lake Perris upland hunting follows the same season that CA Department of Fish and Wildlife publlishes.

2026–2027 Lake Perris Waterfowl Hunting Program

Lake Perris State Recreation Area (SRA) will offer boat-only waterfowl hunting on the following specific Thursdays during the 2026–2027 season. All Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) Waterfowl Regulations apply and will be enforced. Eight buoy blind locations will be available each hunt day. Six blinds will be awarded through the annual lottery; the remaining two blinds and any reservation no-shows will be issued through an on-site sweat line lottery. There will (8) boat buoy locations. Hunters may also use their boat to setup on the shoreline as long as it is proximate (30 yards from designated buoy location North and South and can be as close to shore but must remain in the vessel.
