Carnegie is known for its rolling hills, dry rocky washes, and steep, rugged canyons with outstanding opportunities for hill climbs and many scenic views. The park has more than 1,300 acres of riding area. Riders can enjoy over 80 miles of trails and is a fun, challenging and scenic place to ride.

The hills are divided into two use areas: open riding in West End and designated trails only in Resource Management Areas (RMAs) in the East End. Roads, trails, and riding areas are two way; please watch for oncoming traffic. Some trails are single-track, making them unsuitable for all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).

Below is a map of our RMAs marked in green:

Trail Difficulty

 Trail Difficulty

  • Green Circle — Easiest
Relatively flat, these trails or fire roads provide a good starting point for beginners. Be aware that these trails can have some steep sections and can turn into a blue square/black diamond trail quickly.

  • Blue square — Moderate / More difficult
Steeper and narrower, these trails usually have plenty of room to turn around at the top or bottom or have an outlet so that riders can avoid returning on the same route. Many of these trail follow the ridgeline, or a serpentine flow with some steeper sections. Most of these trails are still wide enough for a ATV.

  • Black Diamond — Most difficult
Steep and narrow, these trails often do not have an outlet; therefore, riders must be able to negotiate the trail in both directions. The majority of these trails are single track only allowing a dirt bike. These trails are extremely technical with sharp turns, hill climb sections, and rocky terrain. Only the most experienced riders should travel these routes.
